  1. All the things I should know how to do – and don’t. I have to admit, I lean heavily on a brilliant son who makes it possible for me to be an idiot. But I’m looking forward to reading this year’s installment and seeing if I can do any of what you suggest.


  2. After years of using my computer without actually knowing how it works, a recent scare has set me straight. I’m enrolling in a set of classes to teach me more than “getting by.” I loathe it, but it is the tool of my trade. I sharpen and maintain my gardening tools, I should do at least as much for my hardware and software.

    (Still, I hardly think of this as “holiday activities.”)
