Today We Honor Veterans

In the USA, Veterans Day annually falls on November 11. This day is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended the World War I hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918. Veterans are thanked for their services to the United States on Veterans Day.

Of special note: The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. That’s when it all happened.

  1. This was such a beautiful tribute. On this day, I always think of my father and his WWII stories. Funny. Sad. Tragic. All the events that made up his days in Germany when he was only a kid and remained with him until he died.

  3. Here in the UK today there was a two minute silence at 11 minutes past eleven – as there is every armistice day. The country stops for this – observed in the work place, schools, supermarkets. Very moving and this and your special day is a time to reflect on those who have fought and are fighting for us. Thank you for sharing, Jacqui. Wishing you a good weekend.

  4. Hi Jacqui – I haven’t this year properly remembered Remembrance Day (Armistice Day – formal title) as we call it – ours is now moved to Remembrance Sunday. There will be Services today … but our formal tributes will be on Sunday. We must remember all who served … thank you for this – Hilary
