Brilliantly fun article, Jacqui! I can relate well to this as my son fits within this category. You should see the full body Storm Trooper armor he’s making. 😀 lol

PS. We love the Bend/Redmond/Sisters areas. Joseph. etc. is so seriously HOT.

I’m trying to decide of heat or cold annoys me more. It varies depending upon the season!

True that. Lots of snow around Bend (a little where I live; mostly rain in winter–6 mos.– as you likely know).

Would enjoy meeting you–alas, too far away in Oregon!

What a beautiful area you live in. I’m considering eastern Oregon as a retirement area.

Pretty great place to retire, I’d think– I am retired and I still live here (though hubby is still working, I admit…) Eastern OR. is amazing and i have thought of that area, as well, for a later time.

Thanks for the insight, Cynthia. California is getting nuttier than usual!

Ha! I can’t say Portland area is any less weird that it was 30-40 years ago–just more pricey–but I still love it. If you stay more rural, things might be more calm and, well–bucolic! 🙂

Really like your post over there, Jacqui. Very spot on, astute observations on what makes a geek/tech person/gamer tick. I really did like the suggestion of convention tickets as a present and you don’t even have to go, and eating and typing at the keyboard at the same time. I think myself of as a nerd and don’t mind either of these.

I don’t let anyone near my keyboard with food, except myself. And sometimes that’s even a mistake!

Hopefully you haven’t spilt a drink on your keyboard yet!

I went to Chris’s site and checked it out. Fun article. I solemnly swear to bring chocolate and not ask dumb questions if I’m interfacing with a geek. : )

Hehee. I was always stunned when parents would give me notepads or post-its for Christmas gifts. I’m the tech teacher!

Great post! I left you a comment at Chris’s site, Jacquie.
Many thanks also to GP Cox for posting the link because I couldn’t find the article at first. That was most helpful, GP!

Thanks, Mae. It’s a topic close to who I am on a daily basis. I had a lot of fun writing it.

He’s wonderful–GP. I generally arrive to my blog at 7 am PT which is way late for lots of other people. And I slept in a bit after my bingeing on cultures around the world that communicate with whistles and songs. You know what I mean, Hilary!

I roughed it out in the story yesterday. Even my husband loves it and he’s not terribly interested in early man!

Excellent … did you see the link re the Canary Islands I sent yesterday … ? That was really interesting … I suspect your husband might enjoy that too … but so pleased he approves what you’ve mapped out … well done … looking forward to reading it – H
