I’m taking the day to honor our all soldiers on America’s Memorial Day. Without their sacrifice, where would we be?

I saw a few new flags out in my neighborhood for this day. That was nice.

It always makes me feel good to see flags out. Our small town lines the Main Street with flags. The Boy Scouts do it. It is wonderful!

That is wonderful. A friend who lives nearby–her entire neighborhood goes patriotic for the 4th. How fun is that.

I hope your Memorial Day was enjoyable. I finished planting my garden for the year, and weed-whacking the several hundred yards of ditch banks. Not sure that’s the best way to remember those who have given their lives for our nation.

“Without their sacrifice, where would we be?” So true. When you boil it down to it’s simplest form–that’s it. Where would we be indeed.

I’m not sure where we’d be. Speaking German? Or Japanese? Hmm…

Or English if we’d lost the Revolutionary War? Oh… wait. 😉

I was shocked to discover yesterday that, even if they fought on the same side for both World Wars, UK and USA have their Poppy Day at different times. In school, I learnt only about the November one. I discovered the difference because yesterday there were poppies on the banner of Absolute Write forum, and I did not understand why until I asked – D Day passed, November is yet long time to come

It’s only right to show our appreciation for people who are there for us when we need them. Even though I’m Canadian, I appreciate not only our own military but yours. The US is our protector as much as yours.

I know Canada also has many brave warriors defenders, Huzzah to them, too.

Thank you, Damyanti. Freedom isn’t free and the price paid is often well beyond anything that sounds reasonable. But it is.

Thank you. It sounds trite to say, We must remember, but I wonder if we’re forgetting? This is my small part to be sure we don’t.

I don’t think it sounds trite at all to say we must remember the sacrifices of the fallen. They’re too easily forgotten.
