Here are four more great novels you won’t want to miss that I got from the wonderful NetGalley: Red Metal — a new character by Mark Greaney One Minute Out — the Gray Man takes on trafficking of young girls with a vengeance; I love this guy Hawke’s Target — a personal tragedy turns an … Continue reading →

If you like thrillers but can’t quite get behind the world-ending apocalyptic plot points–would like something a little more down-to-earth–you very well may like Westerns. I do and thankfully, NetGalley is happy to feed my addiction with free books. Here are some of the last ones I read: Frontier America — Preacher, the most famous … Continue reading →

Great Westerns from Authors New to Me

As readers of my blog know, I’m kind of nuts about Westerns. I like strong heroes that push the edge of what’s possible to do. I want them moral but flawed, powerful but earnest, not afraid to put themselves in danger and take responsibility, with a bias for action–no SODSDIs allowed (Some Other Dude Should … Continue reading →

I think I’ve mentioned before–I’ve been a fan of William W. Johnstone since I discovered his 24-volume Mountain Man, Preacher series. There is no writer who puts you more in the era of the Old West’s mountain men trappers, those honest, hardworking, and rough men who survived by trapping and selling the pelts from the Rocky Mountains. … Continue reading →

I’ve been addicted to Westerns for a few months now. If you have any favorites, I’d love to hear about them. Here are four more great Western-genre books from NetGalley: California Bound — two former Civil War soldiers vow to get rich in the California Gold Rush and end up in the middle of a battle with … Continue reading →
